Local solutions for clean water access in rural Uganda

The Government of Uganda recently decentralized rural water supplies, awarding contracts to private operators. But a critical lack of local finance existed, and local operators needed capacity-building. The Global Partnership for Results-Based Approaches (GPRBA), IFC, PPIAF and DevCo partnered with the private sector to help find local solutions to water problems in rural Uganda, bringing together local financial institutions and small-scale water providers. This video shows the case of Busembatia, where the project supported installation of 700 stations distributing clean piped water, and serving more than 15,000 people.
