A feasibility study was to design an output-based approach to support the construction of field channels and land improvements allowing the delivery of satisfactory irrigation services to all  farmer beneficiaries in Megech-Seraba and Ribb irrigation schemes. This activity sought to obtain higher returns to investments, rising incomes for farmers, and improved environmental protection.

The feasibility study was completed in June 2014. A workshop was held in Addis Ababa to discuss the findings and  next steps with key partners in government  and the Ethiopian irrigation sector. The study noted some constraints  on  access to  pre-financing  for  investments that could benefit from OBA subsidies.
